Case Collection Plan

In December 2022, the UNESCO International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education (INRULED) partnered with the China Zigen Rural Education and Development Association, along with other partners, held the 2022 China-Southeast Asian Symposium-Towards Ecological Civilization: Education for Sustainable Rural Development and released A Call to Youth-led Actions: Promoting Sustainable Rural Development towards Ecological Civilisation.

Based on this momentum, UNESCO INRULED, together with multiple partners, initiated a global case collection event themed ‘Youth-Led Action for Rural Sustainable Development.’ The initiative recognises the global youth as key actors in achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, offering a platform for those passionate about rural education and development:

• Champion Inclusive Youth Engagement: By encouraging the youth to share their projects in rural areas and actively partake in community development, we pave the way for broader social enhancement.

• Nurture Youth Innovation: We are dedicated to gathering stories that showcase the innovative methods young people employ to tackle tangible challenges in the realm of rural sustainable development.

• Create Youth-Friendly Environments: Through our case collections, we demonstrate the ways in which rural communities cultivate spaces that are receptive to the aspirations and active contributions of the youth, offering them enriched opportunities for growth.

• Empowering Youth Leadership: By highlighting the pivotal roles played by young people in rural sustainable development, we aim to inspire more young individuals to assume leadership roles and be the change makers of sustainable transformation.

This campaign consists of three main stages: collection, case evaluation and selection, and results showcase. Each stage involves experts, youth mentors, and an evaluation committee to provide professional guidance, organise and select the collected cases to ensure their integrity and accuracy.

Collection Rules

1. Eligibility: Global institutions and individuals focusing on and engaged in rural sustainable development.

2. Deadline: November 10, 2023.
