The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Centre Directors Meeting (CDM) 2026 was held in Chonburi, Thailand, on 14–15 July. Dr. Qi Xinjian, Assistant Director of the UNESCO International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education (INRULED) attended the event.

During the meeting, Dr. QI Xinjian engaged in in-depth consultations with the SEAMEO Secretariat and its regional centres, reaching consensus on multiple areas of practical cooperation. Both sides agreed to prioritise joint research, training, and knowledge production in rural education and teacher development, while accelerating flagship initiatives, including the China–Southeast Asia Rural Teachers’ Training Workshop on Digital Skills and Artificial Intelligence, and the China-Southeast Asia TVET Principals' Workshop.

INRULED’s participation has further strengthened strategic collaboration with the SEAMEO Secretariat and its regional centres, injecting fresh momentum into China–Southeast Asia rural education cooperation and supporting the region’s digital education transformation.
