From March 12th to 13th, a two-day capacity building workshop for Community Learning Centres (CLC) was held in Pursat Province, Cambodia. The event, organised by the Department of Non-Formal Education under the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports (MoEYS) of Cambodia, aimed to enhance the management and operational capabilities of CLCs in Cambodia, so as to promote skills development and lifelong learning in the country. A total of 87 CLC managers and local education administrators from 13 provinces participated in the training. The UNESCO International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education (INRULED) was invited to provide technical support for this training.
During the opening ceremony, H.E Sos Fazy, Under Secretary of State, MoEYS, delivered a speech, highlighting the significance of this event as an excellent opportunity to promote exchanges between CLCs of China and Cambodia. Subsequently, Dr. Qi Xinjian, Programme Specialist from INRULED, addressed the audience, reaffirming the importance of skill development and lifelong learning for global sustainable development.
On the second day of the training, Dr. Qi Xinjian and Ms. Wu Yunfei, Programme Coordinator of INRULED, presented in the morning session. They shared the background of the "Capacity Building Project for Rural Community Learning Centres in China", and showcased the trend and best practices of Chinese rural CLCs in detail, encompassing various dimensions of CLC operations, such as needs analysis, project design, resource mobilisation, and networking.
H.E Nos Sles, Secretary of State, MoEYS, summarised the training and initiated discussions with INRULED on strengthening learning and exchanges between CLC personnel of the two countries.
During the workshop, the INRULED team visited a CLC in Chheu Tom town, Pursat Province, and held discussions with local CLC management personnel.
On March 14th, INRULED visited the UNESCO Office in Phnom Penh and the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Technical Education Development (SEAMEO TED) to discuss future cooperation.
