On December 17, 2020, the Mobilization Meeting for Overseas Gender Equality Projects was held by UNESCO INRULED in Beijing Normal University. Prof. Zeng Xiaodong, executive director of INRULED hosted the meeting and the attendees are: Prof. Zhang Lili,  chief expert of INRULED’s on gender equality and women’s leadership, Prof. Li Haoying, vice president of Children Development and Family Education Institute of Beijing Normal University, Ms. Feng Xinxin, general manager of Namibian Phoenix Travel Agency, Ms. Wang Lihui, secretary general of Western Sunshine Foundation, Ms. Lin Zheyu, director of Beijing Photosynthesis Children's Growth Center, Mr. He Yongqing, planning director of Shiying Era Movie and Television Cultural Communication Co., Ltd., and the other staff of the INRULED.

 

Promoting gender equality and female leadership is one of the Centre’s main work areas. With the guidance of UNESCO’s SDG4 and SDG5, the Centre is committed to empowering women and girls so as to promote gender equality. By 2030, we hope to eliminate the gender gap in education and enable vulnerable groups, including the disabled people, indigenous people and vulnerable children to have equal access to education and vocational training. As the only category II center under the auspices of UNESCO committed to promote the transformation of rural areas in developing and least developed countries, in 2021, the Centre plans to carry out Community and Family Education Project and Scientific Education Project for Junior Middle School Girls in Uzbekistan and Namibia .

 

Meeting Content

Prof. Zeng Xiaodong, executive director of INRULED, introduced the project’s background and briefed the working mode and objectives of the project. Prof. Li Haoying, vice president of Children Development and Family Education Institute of BNU, fully agreed on the importance of inter-departmental cooperation and showed willingness to provide support in family education. Ms. Feng Xinxin, general manager of Namibian Phoenix Travel Agency, briefly introduced the social development situation in Namibia and pointed out that this project will benefit the local disadvantaged women and children. Mr. Wang Lihui, Secretary General of the Western Sunshine Foundation, gave a brief introduction of the Sunshine Kindergarten. Moreover, Ms. Lin Zheyu, director of Beijing Photosynthesis Children's Growth Center, shared scientific ideas and practices of this center. Based on that, the participants discussed issues concerning the overseas project implementation, fund-raising, social support mobilization and project communication and promotion.

 

Sunshine Kindergarten

Designed by Prof. Zhu Jingxiang and his team from CUHK, Sunshine Kindergarten is an environmentally friendly and sustainable modular house. Until 2019, its version 3.0 has been completed and will be adopted for the overseas project. After discussion, the participants elected Prof. Zhang Lili, INRULED’s chief expert of gender equality and women's leadership as the coordinator of the project. Meanwhile, the project scheme will be jointly designed by INRULED, Children Development and Family Education Institute of BNU, Western Sunshine Foundation and Photosynthesis Children's Growth Center. It is hoped that a feasible and innovative project can be developed to help women and children in Uzbekistan and Namibia.
