From May 26 to 30, the SEP4School and Student Camp for Southeast Asian Countries on the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy for Sustainability, organised by the SEAMEO Regional Centre for Sufficiency Economy Philosophy for Sustainability (SEAMEO SEPS), took place in Bangkok, Thailand.

The event brought together over 100 educators and students from 11 countries, including China, Thailand, the Philippines, and Timor-Leste, to exchange insights and co-create solutions for climate and sustainability challenges. Ms. Li Mengxin, Administration officer, and Ms. Fan Beibei, Communication Officer of UNESCO INRULED, attended the event.

During the five-day programme, Ms. Li Mengxin and Ms. Fan Beibei served as lead facilitators, supporting students from participating countries to explore the theme of “Developing a School Culture of Sustainability: The Sufficiency Economy Mindset in Climate Action in Schools”. They guided high school students to understand the linkages between sustainable development and everyday behavior, and to develop practical action plans for promoting sustainability in schools from multiple dimensions, including school management, curriculum and teaching, and student-led initiatives. Through interactive discussions, scenario-based simulations, and intercultural dialogue, the training helped students move from ideas to action, advancing green transformation within the key setting of schools.
Delegates also visited Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Co., Ltd. (CPF), Matthayom Wat Nongchok School, Koyrut Taqwa Learning Centre, and Lam Sai Farm to gain first-hand insights into Thailand’s innovative practices in climate adaptation and sustainable development across business, educational, and agricultural sectors. These field visits fostered peer learning and creative exchange among youth from different countries, laying a solid foundation for future regional cooperation.

This participation is part of INRULED’s ongoing involvement in global education governance and efforts to promote green education practices. As the Chinese school representative, the Second High School Attached to Beijing Normal University joined INRULED in the visit, engaging in in-depth exchange and collaboration with schools from multiple Southeast Asian countries on pathways toward school sustainability. By empowering youth and fostering collaborative knowledge sharing, INRULED continues to serve as a vital bridge - promoting the integration of sustainability into school education, supporting education systems in addressing climate change, and working towards a greener future for all.
