From March 23 to 27, 2026, the information and communications technology (ICT) teacher trainer workshop was successfully held in Tanzania. This training is an integral part of the Beijing Normal University-UNESCO Project for Digital Skills for Girls in Africa, jointly launched by Beijing Normal University and UNESCO in October 2024. It aims to enhance gender awareness among ICT teacher trainers and pre-service teachers, to foster an inclusive atmosphere in ICT classrooms, further promoting gender equality in digital education.

Professor Zhou Zuoyu, Director of UNESCO INRULED, delivered a video address. In his speech, Prof. Zhou emphasized the importance of girls acquiring digital skills. He noted that, under the circumstances that 40% of girls lack access to digital technology, the digital gender gap is not only an educational challenge but also an economic and social issue. Prof. Zhou highlighted that this training focuses not only on supporting girls in gaining digital skills but also emphasizes teaching methods, particularly by shaping inclusive and equitable classroom environments to break down stereotypes and social norms that hinder girls' development, creating safe, equal, and supportive learning environments for all students.
