On 24 September, the UNESCO International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education (INRULED) successfully convened an online Consultation Meeting on China’s Rural Teacher Policies and Practices. The meeting aimed to systematically review China’s policy achievements and practical experiences in strengthening the rural teaching workforce, providing key insights and guidance for the development of the Rural Teacher Module of the Teacher Policy Development Guide, jointly initiated by INRULED and the UNESCO Teacher Task Force (TTF).
The meeting brought together a group of distinguished scholars with profound expertise in rural education in China, including Professor Qin Yuyou from Northeast Normal University, Professor Lei Wanpeng from Central China Normal University, Professor Han Jialing from the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences, Associate Professor Wang Dan from the University of Hong Kong and Dr Chen Yan from South China Normal University, and Professor Zheng Xinrong and Associate Professor Liao Wei from Beijing Normal University, ,. Together, they engaged in an in-depth discussion on policy pathways and practical experiences in building and supporting China’s rural teaching workforce.
