International Seminar on “Literacy and Skills Development against the Background of Education 2030” held Successfully in Jining

Jining, China, 26-28 September 2018 – the 2018 International Seminar on “Literacy and Skills Development against the Background of Education 2030” took place, calling together UNESCO officials, experts and scholars from Iran, Nigeria, Spain, Australia, Grenada, Sri Lanka, Uganda and Liberia and China. The Seminar was organized by Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, UNESCO International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education, and the Jining Municipal People’s Government.

 

 

 

Focused on the existing problems of illiteracy eradication and skills training in rural areas of developing countries after the year of 2015, this Seminar discussed about “Illiteracy Eradication” and “Technical and Vocational Education and Training” to facilitate dialogues on an international level and support developing countries to implement the Education 2030 Agenda. Laureates of “The UNESCO Confucius Prize for Literacy” from Iran, Nigeria and Spain delivered speeches accordingly, and experts and scholars from home and abroad also shared international/district specific experience and successful cases of skills development and rural transformation.

 

This International Seminar serves as a platform for ideas and experience sharing in the field of illiteracy eradication and skills development, so as to help developing countries facilitate rural transformation and social prosperity.
