INRULED and SLI Participated in eLearning Africa 2017

Balaclava, Mauritius, 27-29 September 2017 - eLearning Africa 2017, the 12th International Conference on ICT for Development, Education and Training was held to gather multi-stakeholders to discuss various issues related to ICT and its role in promoting the sustainable development goals. Taking the chance, INRULED and SLI also organised a workshop on Enhancing Teachers’ ICT Competency by Harnessing Open Educational Resources, which acted as a platform for experience sharing on ICT application in improving teachers’ competency through the analysis of cases in China and Mauritius.


Prof. Huang Ronghuai, Director of the UNESCO International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education (INRULED), accompanied by delegates from the centre and the Smart Learning Institute (SLI) of Beijing Normal University, attended the conference. He was also cordially invited to share knowledge and experience on ICT application in China at the 10th Ministerial Round Table (MRT) on Meeting the Sustainable Development goals for Education – How eLearning and Digitalisation can support Inclusivity, Boost Training and Encourage Skills Development. Aiming to generate recommendations and guidance on eLearning and digitalisation, this high-level meeting engaged Ministers from 17 African countries including Cameroon, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritius, Namibia, Senegal, Seychelles, South Africa, Togo, Uganda and Zimbabwe, and other representatives from the private and education sector.

Workshop on Enhancing Teachers’ ICT Competency by Harnessing Open Educational Resources

 

During the opening session of the conference, Prof. Huang Ronghuai made a keynote speech on Deepen the China-Africa Cooperation on ICT in Education for SDG4 to facilitate further China-Africa cooperation in ICT application in education, and encourage the stakeholders to take part in the process.


eLearning Africa is one of the largest international conferences on and network of digital learning in Africa. So far, it has held 12 annual meetings, and attracted hundreds of government officials, experts and scholars, and representatives from the private sector working in education related fields.
