INRULED's Executive Director Dr. ZHAO Yuchi Visits APEC Secretariat

On September 29, Dr. ZHAO Yuchi, Executive Director of UNESCO International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education (INRULED) and Coordinator for the Education Network under the APEC Human Resources Development Working Group (HRDWG) (2023-2026), visited the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Secretariat in Singapore to exchange views on the APEC's operational mechanisms and the further development of the Education Network.

During the discussion, APEC Secretariat Executive Director Mr. Eduardo Pedrosa welcomed Dr. Zhao's visit and commended the Education Network for its active role in promoting educational cooperation, policy dialogue, and knowledge sharing among member economies. Dr. Zhao presented an overview of his tenures as Education Network Coordinator, highlighting progress in regional education exchanges, teacher development, technical and vocational education, and education for sustainable development. Ms. Harlena Harris, Program Director of APEC Secretariat, outlined APEC's key priorities and ongoing initiatives in human resource development. Mr. Carlos Kuriyama, Director of the Policy Support Unit, emphasized APEC's vital role in providing policy research and advocacy support to member economies and fostering continued collaboration and policy innovation in the education sector.

Both sides agreed to further strengthen the Education Network's role as a bridge for cooperation, supporting member economies in deepening practical collaboration in areas such as teacher education, skills training, and lifelong learning. They also reaffirmed their commitment to expanding the impact of joint initiatives and to promoting high-quality, inclusive, and sustainable education development across the Asia-Pacific region.
