From 3rd to 4th July, Dr. Qi Xinjian, and Ms. Liu Ruixi, Programme Coordinator of the UNESCO International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education (INRULED), attended the 2025 Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Centres Policy Research Network (CPRN) Summit in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei.
The theme of this summit was “Building Bridges to a Sustainable Future: Inclusive Collaboration and Innovation in Education, Science, and Culture”. About 200 researchers, policymakers, and educators from around the world gathered to discuss pressing challenges in education, science, and culture across Southeast Asia.

During the Summit, Dr. Qi Xinjian and Ms. Liu Ruixi introduced INRULED’s Mid-term Strategy (2024-2029) and highlighted the research framework of the upcoming Global Report on Education for Rural Sustainable Development, calling on relevant organizations and experts to help identify key challenges and best practices related to education for sustainable rural development. INRULED team also shared highlights from over three decades of experience in promoting sustainable rural development through research and policy dialogue, including flagship initiatives such as the new Module on Rural Teachers for the Teacher Policy Development Guide (TPDG). In addition, INRULED engaged in productive exchanges with several regional partners on topics including youth empowerment, skills development, and teacher education, laying the groundwork for future cooperation.
