2013 Seminar on Education and Rural Development

Sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China (MofCom), INRULED has co-organized 2013 Seminar on Education and Rural Development in collaboration with the Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO), MofCom from 20 May to 9 June, 2013. 19 officials from education department of 10 African countries including Cameroon, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Nigeria, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe, have joined the 21-day seminar. The seminar includes lectures, participatory workshops, visit to education institutions, as well as cultural activities.

 

 

Based on the outcomes of its four ongoing programmes: skills development for rural transformation, gender equality and women’s leadership, quality teachers for rural schools, and ICT in education for rural development, INRULED designed 13 lectures and 2 participatory workshops, which were delivered by INRULED programme specialists and their partners from the Ministry of Education of P. R. China, China Agricultural University and BNU. They presented these topics from the viewpoint of innovative policies, strategies, and good practices in China and other developing countries. In addition, a Roundtable Event on China-Africa Cooperation in Education and Rural Development was organized during the seminar.

 

 

African delegates also paid a visit to some institutes of Beijing Normal University in which INRULED is located, the School of Continuing Education, China University of Geosciences in Wuhan City, Jingcheng Experimental School which is a school of 9-year compulsory education in Hangzhou City, and Wuxi Public Training Base which serves as a public service platform of high-tech talents training built by Wuxi government and covers 8 main categories of training curriculum such as modern manufacturing, Information Technology and so on.
